Body Composition Analysis

InBody BWA2.0S
Body Composition Analysis

The human body consists of 50~70% body water. Healthy people maintain a balanced body water ratio between intracellular water and extracellular water of about 3:2. In people with reduced blood circulation, injuries, inflammation and diseases, body water can become unbalanced.

This can lead to oedema. Body water analysis is therefore used in various medical fields, such as nephrology, cardiology, intensive care, and rehabilitation, to screen and monitor a patient’s fluid balance.

Built to Deliver Results

Medical-Grade Fluid Analysis

Provides segmental ECW/TBW ratios and Phase Angle to support monitoring of edema, inflammation, and malnutrition. This advanced fluid analysis helps you better understand and consult your patients.

Multiple Electrode Options

Use clamp, adhesive, or touch-type electrodes for optimal flexibility in patient care. Even bedridden patients can be measured flawlessly.

Ideal for Clinical & Research Settings

Supports clinical decision-making for dialysis, critical care, oncology, and rehabilitation. Enhance your patient care with valuable insights that truly matter.

Clamp electrode for high
reproducibility

The clamp electrode, consisting of two units, with one attached to the wrists and one to the ankles, leads to high reproducibility. The 16-point clamp electrodes are designed so that the electrodes can be properly positioned around the wrist and ankle bones. This allows the user to place the electrode in the correct position, ensuring reproducibility and minimising measurement errors. This technology also removes contact resistance from the hands and feet, ensuring even more accurate results.

With the 16-point clamp electrodes, two different measurement options are available. Depending on the purpose, users can choose between research mode (distal) and medical mode (proximal).

Body analysis
with amputation patients

BWA2.0S allows the device to be used with a wider range of individuals, including amputation patients. Its advanced technology allows accurate measurements to be taken even in individuals with missing limbs. This is essential for monitoring muscle mass, body water and overall body composition, which helps healthcare professionals develop tailored treatment plans. In these populations, InBody results remain reliable and useful for both medical and rehabilitation purposes.

Comprehensive parameters

Segmental body water analysis
An advanced segmental body water analysis that accurately measures intracellular and extracellular fluid per body part. This is essential for monitoring fluid balance and swelling etc, especially in patients with oedema, injuries or rehabilitation needs. By analysing the distribution of body water in the arms, legs and trunk separately, medical professionals gain deep insight into hydration status and can develop targeted treatment strategies.

Segmental phase angle
The InBody BWA 2.0S offers segmental phase angle analysis, evaluating cell health and membrane integrity separately for each body part. This provides deep insight into muscle quality and recovery ability between different segments, such as arms, legs and trunk. A higher phase angle indicates stronger, healthier cells, while a lower value may indicate malnutrition, inflammation or muscle breakdown. This detailed analysis helps medical professionals create targeted treatment plans.

Sarcopenia assessment
Sarcopenia, designated by the WHO with diagnosis code M62.84, is recognised as a disease rather than a natural phenomenon. It can be easily assessed and evaluated using the Skeletal Muscle Mass Index (SMI)* and handgrip strength**, allowing for comprehensive evaluation and personalised advice.
*Skeletal Muscle Mass Index (SMI) calculated by taking the sum of appendicular muscle mass (in kilograms) and dividing it by the square of the person’s height (in metres).**Handgrip strength is available with connections to the InBody Handgrip Dymamometer (IB-HGS, optional).

InBody BWA2.0S

Body composition analysis
Body composition is a method of describing what the body is made of. BWA2.0S offers quantitative values and normal ranges for four core body components: Body Water, Protein, Minerals, and Fat.

Up to 20 optional parameters
Provides up to 20 optional parameters for a customized experience.
Select from parameters, such as age-specific graph, segmental analysis, and body composition results that are available at a glance.

Segmental ECW ratio analysis
Segmental ECW Ratio is displayed in a graph so you can easily determine if the ICW and ECW are balanced. By analyzing the ECW Ratio, you can assess if there is a problem with Body Water circulation. This can help monitor the recovery of post-surgery or hemodialysis patients.
